Holy Cannoli !!!

A certain colleague from Canberra suggested I make time to visit GROSSI FLORENTINO once I’d made my way to Melbourne. I have to say! This guy really knows his food! I had the best bowl of pasta there – it blew my mind and when I started eating my thoughts drifted to scenes of Julia Roberts eating and thoroughly enjoying bowl after bowl of pasta in the movie Eat, Pray, Love. Mind you – I only watched those scenes of another person’s screen three rows in front of me while I was on an international flight last year. She just looked like she really enjoyed the pasta and I guess good pasta is really enjoyable!
Well after the main course - I thought my night couldn’t possibly get better. How wrong was I?! Let me tell you about dessert. Featured above. Absolutely to die for! In fact I’m going to just say it – best Cannoli I’ve tasted in my life thus far (happy to stand corrected). I’m salivating as I write about it now.
So I have my friend in Canberra to thank for the lovely recommendation!  I will definitely be going back. I wonder if I can get takeaway and take a Cannoli back home as a little treat!

I'm sorry perhaps a san pelligrino?

I definitely hrt this fauxtograph. I was sitting enjoying a lovely bowl of pasta in a hustling and bustling Italian restaurant. The patrons spoke really quick Italian and I had such a great time listening without being able to understand a word.
I loved the big family feel of this restaurant but most of all I thoroughly enjoyed being able to see in the kitchen. This a shot of the reflection in the glass and you can just see a woman in the kitchen.  I think she was slicing meat at the time.
I recall going in and wanting to order a lemon, lime and bitters and being told ‘sorry we don’t have that, perhaps a san pelligrino?’ … how embarrassing I thought to myself as I made a mental note to always keep it authentic!

i hrt scrabble. i do

Scrabble is often on my mind! Seriously addictive. I love the iPhone ‘words with friends’ version too but it will never beat the traditional board game. The one fauxtographed above is absolutely gorgeous special vintage (sadly I can’t claim it as my own). It's well travelled and it's certainly done it's duty in entertaining many.

One of my worst nightmares would definitely be to lose a tile! All the letters are like a big chaotic family – they’re all different but need to stay together to be happy! There's quirky Uncle [Q] and black sheep cousin [Z] and sisters [E] & [F]. So I make sure to pack them all up safely, so they can be happy together and need not fear the vacuum cleaner.

chasing change

I’m chasing change (whatever that really means). It’s time to move one from the sleepy suburbs of Canberra. It’s a bittersweet move though as I leave behind some really beautiful people. Friends that I have laughed and cried with and grown oh so fond of.

Coming from Adelaide I enjoy the pace and serenity that is Canberra. I love the bright blue skies that open up (though it's often bitingly cold) and simple things like riding around the lake and exploring the local markets.

I’ve always believed that Canberra much like Adelaide, is not a city that entertains you; but rather a place where you must find ways to entertain yourself. Perhaps it’s through this sometimes boring setting, that you meet and forge some of the greatest, sometimes unlikely and surprisingly deep friendships. This has certainly been the case both in Canberra and Adelaide (which I will always consider home).

I can only wonder what the road ahead will bring...
